Welcome
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A YOUTH LEADER
We arise each morning, having known more today than the last. We add value to ourselves everyday as we learn something new. We seek to touch another persons life, even in the remotest way, so that the person’s life is better now than before we met them. This is the way of a youth leader.
We are challenged to be responsible and self efficient. We are supported in our ambitions and goals; we are encouraged to speak out on topics or events in the world we don’t understand, say what we see and know, so
that we come to an understanding. So a youth leader is one who doesn’t sit quiet, but speaks their truth. As we travel around the world, seeing new places and meeting new people, we go forward as ambassadors and delegates of peace and respect.
Our values are based on ancient Native American principles and teachings; our first and only rule is RESPECT. We are taught to respect all life, all people, and all beliefs. We are taught this because we may not see the world the same as someone else. For example, take the story of the blind men feeling different parts of an elephant, though they found different things, none the less it is still a whole elephant. So how can we call any of them wrong? No life is less precious than another; all life is important and has its place.
We are students and teachers, listeners and speakers, dreamers and doers. We are taught all forms of teamwork, self improvement, business and finance. Other various topics of learning that we have taken interest in are quantum physics, the art of effective communication, and other useful skills and knowledge. As we learn, we share this knowledge with others so we not only gain a better understanding ourselves, but help others too. Knowledge is turned into wisdom only when it is applied, so as we learn we are encouraged to assimilate what we learn into our daily life.
Ultimately, a youth leader is a free thinker, a connoisseur of knowledge, and a caring youth humanitarian looking to better the world.
